When and where is the Manitoba Undergraduate Healthcare Symposium?

When: May 12 - 14, 2017

Where: The University of Manitoba's Bannatyne campus in at 750 Bannatyne Avenue in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The seminars, workshops and keynotes will be held at the Bannatyne campus. The social on the Friday night is held at the Hub Social Club at the Fort Garry Campus at 66 Chancellor's Road, and the banquet on Saturday night is held the Radisson Hotel. 

Registration is open to any undergraduate student from a Canadian University. If you are currently not a student or in a graduate program, you may also register. Although we are targeted towards undergraduate students, we want to provide any one interested in healthcare an opportunity to attend and learn. Fifteen spots are reserved for grades 11 and 12 students based on application.

Who is allowed to attend the Healthcare

Delegates arrive on Friday, and check in at our Friday night social at the Hub Social Club. On Saturday, delegates will attend a morning keynote, followed by seminars and workshops. Saturday night is the Banquet Dinner and Dance, which will also include a keynote presentation following dinner. Sunday is composed entirely of workshops, where delegates will get a hands-on approach to learning more about the Colleges of the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Manitoba, such as Dentistry, Medicine, Pharmacy, etc. As well, Sunday will feature a research competition, and an Information Fair.

What is the difference between a seminar, a workshop and a case challenge?




A seminar is run as a discussion panel, where a speaker will present a topic for about 20-30 minutes, then facilitate a discussion around that topic. Seminar are run for groups of about 25 people.

A workshops is more of a hands-on experience, and is usually run by students. Delegates will get the opportunity to learn and practice a new skill in a low-pressure environment.

For a case challenge, a speaker will present a problem, and students will break off into smaller groups in order to come up with a solution to that problem. Prizes will be offered for the best or most creative solution.

The dress code for the Healthcare Symposium is business casual, the dress code for the banquet is semi-formal.

I wear to the Healthcare

Early bird registration for $100 opens on March 13th, 2017 and will be open for 2 weeks. Following that, regular registration for $110 will open. Seminars and workshop selection will become available at a later date. Registration is limited to only 125 spots, and will fill up fast, so make sure to register early!

Is food included? What about if I have any allergies or food restrictions?

Light snacks will be served at the Friday night social. Lunch is included on Saturday during the conference, and dinner will be served at the banquet. On Sunday, a light breakfast and lunch will be served.

What do i need to bring to the symposium?

A delegate package will be provided with a notebook and pens to follow along throughout the weekend.

Can I cancel my order in the case of an emergency?
